The Byrds
Preflyte really is up there in my head with Fifth Dimension for the crown of my favorite album by The Byrds. Originally not quite released as a "Byrds" album, rather under each of the individual members names (though many reissues have it under The Byrds, as well as original pressings have Roger as "Jim McGuinn" despite the fact he had changed his name around 1967 and this was originally released in 1969.) Overall I find this album to be very peaceful. If you like early Byrds (think Mr Tambourine Man and Turn! Turn! Turn!) and want more of that, especially with some more soft but still fun and energetic folk rock tunes, this is a really good album for that. You aren't going to get the strongest Byrds material to ever exist, but you'll get some of my favorites and this album is deserving of the praise it recieves.
The Avengers
The 3rd and final album by the Avengers, this album (though having their biggest hit on it) is known by psychedelic rock collectors, maybe people into new Zealand music history and not many other people. This album was the result of the sudden breakup of The Avengers, it was put together rapidly trying to get one more thing out of this band and from what I heard it sold horribly compared to the other two albums. This is not a album to skip if you're into groovy and fun 60s psych. my favorite tracks on it would be Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind and September Winds
The Avengers
While I do prefer Medallion I do think its a mistake to sleep on this gem. Its not the strongest album you'll ever hear, but its filled with little hidden gems from the psychedelic era. This album is just fun, the energy on it is amazing and I love this thing. Waterpipe, Rosie and the cover of Take My Hand really stand out on this album.
Mr Lee Grant
Slightly better than the first album, however still not great. The cover of Maria is a major standout for me personally.
Mr Lee Grant
From the 60s New Zealand music scene, This album legitimately is not good but it has a charm and I cannot stop playing it over and over
The Mockers
In my opinion a super underrated New Wave album. The Mockers, coming from Wellington New Zealand, continue the trend of being a amazing band coming out of the Kiwi pop scene. Although you can tell this is very much a first attempt at a album and can be fairly messy due to it, its still a incredibly fun album. Favorites being My Girl Thinks She's Cleopatra, Somethings Changed and Gold Old Days. I would say Forever Tuesday Morning was my favorite, however it was not originally on the album.
