After

resonate hasn't updated with the full tracklist yet for some reason, but After has gotta be my favorite band right now. they nail that 2000s sound unlike any other. Though, compared to their EPs, something feels slightly different about this one. My favorite tracks are Blind, Fell Asleep in the Sun, Do or Die, and Promise.

ADÉLA

I’ve followed Adela since Dream Academy, where she was eliminated from the competition to form KATSEYE. This debut album was pretty great!! It’s a bit different than her previous sounds, but that’s in no way a problem when this album and her previous EP sound great to me. Adela might be the next big thing 👀 Some songs I wasn’t too into, but I do feel like they fit right into the album.

SZN4

The most unique group and first band from Netflix’s Building the Band to release an album! I think it’s clear they’re still finding their sound, and tbh, their audience too. This album has a lot of every sound. The songs I like sound soooooo good while others don’t sound like they suit them well (to me!) Donzell’s ability to amp up a song’s energy instantly will always amaze me. Private Show is the best song on this album to me, because the second he pulls up the song just BUMPS. He pulls the same stunt in Pop That Trunk and it WORKS without fail each time. Love him. Overall, I like that there are songs where they all blend, and songs that highlight different members vocals. It’s interesting and unique like they are. I was a bit more offput that this album flip flops from party bops, ballads, baddie anthems and church music and radio vibes.

Something’s In The Water

Something’s In The Water

LaRussell, Lil Jon

LaRussell is one of those artists that has a great vibe in live performances but in the studio something sounds so off lol. He's just happy to be here though and will never stop reminding you he's from the bay. Lowkey raps like Parappa the Rapper. Craziest bar was "I put boogers on my molars, when I smile, that shit shine"

FLO

I love a good girl group album and this one HIT. I enjoyed 11/16 songs first listen, curious to see what sticks, falls off, and what grows on me. Love to see FLO continue moving with that 2000s sound!

Cautious Clay

this is an artist i used to love back in 2020-2021, and he pretty much hasn't changed his music at all since then. that's not a bad thing, but this is very much the type of album you throw on as vibey background music. i like that his music always sounds like he's floating in the distance lol

THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE.

THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE.

RAYE

my personal AOTY contender so far with petal and others. I don’t think I’ve listened to an album that sounds this cinematic before. She sets the scene perfectly from the get-go, and the entire album sounds like a movie. There’s a track for each season / mood / phase..This rules.

her debut ep after leaving the girl group “boys world” and it absolutely bangs. she has completely come into her own sound, and I love the vibes she’s bringing to the table!

Ariana Grande

it’s like if Positions had a darker tone, with the harmonies that made Eternal Sunshine stand out, and the experimentation that made Sweetener a top Ari album! It’s crazy how you can feel a bit of every Ariana album in this one. It had possibly her best album opener yet, and the interlude is a strong competitor against ES’s intro. I feel the album had a strong run, started to stray a bit after “stay” and “oh well”, but began to pick right back up with big feelings. At first i thought the interlude was so good it was almost disappointing, as it ended right as it was getting amazing. But then it led straight into like i do. my GOODNESS. they go hand in hand perfectly. The only other “dip” (as in, still pretty good, but not my personal cup of tea) was..well, I didn’t expect bad thing to sound like quarantine-era indie pop. I ate that up in quarantine, don’t get it twisted, but bad thing sounds a bit dated for my taste! Overall, I ate up every song on this album as an Ariana fan. This has gotta be in her top 3 albums for sure…Positions and Sweetener are threatened by this banger. I only didn’t add 3 songs on my playlist while listening. Every single other song was added. This rules. I will admit, the title track sounded a bit stronger live with the drums bumping loudly. I wish it sounded like that on the album. On vibes alone this is a solid 4/5 from me :)
