Resonate

Child Safety Standards

Version 1.0. Effective 28 September 2026.

Resonate is a social app, so Google Play's Child Safety Standards apply to it. This page is our published statement, reachable by anyone, anywhere, without an account and without installing anything.

Our position

Child sexual abuse and exploitation material (CSAE) is absolutely prohibited on Resonate.

There is no threshold, no context that makes it acceptable, and no warning step before enforcement. Specifically, the following are banned everywhere on Resonate, including in reviews, comments, lists, club posts, direct messages, usernames, display names, bios, profile pictures, and banners:

This applies regardless of who posts it and regardless of intent. Resonate is not directed at children, and our Terms of Service set a minimum age of 13, but these standards apply no matter who is involved.

How to report it

Inside the app: you can report a member from their profile, and choose the child-safety reason. A report from inside the app reaches us immediately.

From anywhere, including without an account: email hello@melihonat.dev. This mailbox is monitored by the person who runs Resonate and is our designated child-safety contact.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. We are one person running an app, and we cannot respond faster than the police can.

You do not need to be certain to report. Report it and let us look.

What happens when we get a report

Child-safety reports jump the queue. They are handled ahead of every other kind of report.

  1. Immediate action. We remove or hide the reported content as soon as we see the report, before deciding whether it is founded. Getting it out of view comes first.
  2. Review. We assess the report. Our commitment is to act on every report within 24 hours, and in practice child-safety reports are looked at as soon as they arrive.
  3. Enforcement. Where CSAE is confirmed, the account is terminated permanently, with no warning and no appeal, and the content is removed from the service.
  4. Reporting to authorities. Where we confirm CSAM, we report it to the appropriate authorities as the law requires, including the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and Canadian authorities, and we preserve the evidence they need rather than destroying it.
  5. Preservation. Because of step 4, confirmed CSAE cases are the one situation where we retain records rather than deleting them, and we retain only what is needed for the report.

We deliberately do not publish the detail of how we detect and investigate this material, so that nobody can use this page to work around it.

Deletion does not erase a case

Deleting a Resonate account destroys almost everything we hold, and our Privacy Policy describes that in full. Confirmed child-safety cases are the exception. Deleting an account does not withdraw a report to the authorities, and it does not require us to destroy evidence we are legally obliged to preserve.

Our designated contact

This is the address registered with Google Play as our child-safety contact, and it is the same address used for support, privacy, and general safety reports.

When these standards change, the version number and effective date at the top change with them.
