Tiffany Day
Intro track with the transition into DOIT4ME is amazing, I love the cold synthy instrumentals and the way she describes feeling like an outcast. this album feels like if olivia rodrigo listened to too much snow strippers. On first listen I’m still more drawn to the singles american girl and start over, but I feel like I will enjoy most if not all the tracks over the course of the next few weeks. The only thing I was left missing was her showcasing more of her personality besides being a trend chaser and an outcast.
Kanye West, Ye
To preface this, I haven't listened to any of the previous versions or leaks of this album. @seansharp put it very well, I wouldn't call this a bad album whatsoever, and I appreciate the drawback to these synthy beats and soul samples. Other than that, I feel that this is about what I expected from Kanye anyway. I would have liked a little more experimentation into new lanes, however it's completely fine as is, and still a project to be proud of. Not sure if I'm coming back to most of these tracks though.
Yeat
Not bad, but there's just not as much variation in production as in his earlier stuff, it seems like he played it safe on this one. I love "Up from Here" though, great track
Gunnr
I hear from a lot of people that Gunnr is a style biter and while this sound does sound similar to the likes of 2hollis etc., I don’t mind it at all. That being said there’s still a lot of artistic uniqueness in some songs and these are also the ones I enjoy the most.
underscores
The singles are carrying this project but I really like the slower, more hypnotic songs too. Excited to see what underscores comes up with next
Jack Harlow
Love the direction Mr. Harlow went with for this pretty short album. While the reactions online are pretty funny, I like that so far we all (more or less) think this is his best work. I haven’t listened to a lot of slow music lately so this was a welcome surprise. Still, after a few listens it feels like such a coherent album that I don’t remember which song was which and I really can’t tell what my favorite tracks are without listening back in. After doing just that I gotta say that Trade Places definitely takes the cake out of the only 9 tracks.
kurtains
Really nice exploration of sounds and genres here, I thought kurtains would be more popular than he is right now.
DC THE DON
Cool first 2 listens, never heard anything from him before but will definitely check out his last album soon. Clearly a fun type of album, and as far as I can tell a fan release before he drops another big project? Maybe not the right place to start listening to this artist, still enjoyed it, it fits a niche listening pocket perfectly.
Charli xcx
I wouldn't say this sounded like brat, it sounds like she's going further down the road to her charli album, think "white mercedes" etc. These tracks actually made me wanna go watch the movie (or read the book) so hollywood pay this girl a little more for next time! I think 'House' is a classic by default and I actually like the true romancey tracks on here, especially 'My Reminder', even though they're very stripped down and simple in nature. Her bringing in pop prowess into these cinematic (but still very synthy) instrumentals made this special. I'd say this is another certified Charli dinger
Daniel Caesar
This album is very raw, beautifully produced and way too short for me. This hits that specific nerve every time, and tracks like Get You and Best Part are practically timeless by now.
Baby Keem
Bottom half of the album is amazing, top half of the album is not really what I want from Baby Keem, but it's fine in a way where I wouldn't skip any songs if I was listening in the background. I like that he kept it short with this one.
Maxwell
His voice is a little generic and doesn’t really have a lot of character, but the overall mood of the album is so groovy it doesn’t really matter. I loved it when I first heard it a few years back, and now coming back to it the hype kinda wore off. Still an amazing album that I will for sure spin in the future
J. Cole
He really went for quality and quantity on this album and it works out for him. After listening a few times front to back, disc 39, if released on its own, would earn a clear 10/10 from me. Some passages on disc 29 I still am not perfectly fine with but that's complaining at a high level. If he really doesn't return to music (which I highly doubt), he put out some of this best work on this one.
Jane Remover
One of the most positively confusing first listens ever
glaive
Some pretty good tracks on here, overall not quite engaging enough though.
Olivia Dean
Breath of fresh air with this album, but very short-lived as I think if she keeps this style going it will get boring fast
After
Deep Diving got recommended to me and the entire EP sounds pretty awesome too in comparison! Very 2010s sounding, it’s like if Owl City made a mixtape with songs just like Fireflies
Zero 7
Found this album through tiktok, definitely enjoy the production, it’s very interesting to hear Sia sing like this before her radio hits! Give this one a spin if you have a hump day ahead
Frost Children
I’m pretty new to electronic music but I’m glad I got into it, this is pure energy!!
Charli xcx
I cant believe I slept on this album for so long, I’m sorry charli
B.DAY, Croosh, 1ofurfriends
Catchy but not original, sometimes too corny even if its intentional
